HAMBURGERS KUKU BY BOB DYLAN

The iconic image of the American roadside, ablaze with brash signage and powerful typography, is an apt subject for Dylan. In the artist's own words, Hamburgers KuKu captures America 'how you see it while crisscrossing the land and seeing it for what it's worth. Staying out of the mainstream and traveling the back roads, free born style'.

Dylan's ongoing series of paintings, The Beaten Path, explores the American landscape in all its aspects. Despite their distinct absence of figures, an undeniable humanity imbues these scenes, depicting the essence of an often-ignored America in the juke joints, drive-ins, roadside bars and diners that fill the landscape between the country's coasts. Like the 1950s photographer Robert Frank, Dylan's eye is drawn to life as it is lived by the people whose names are never printed in the newspaper.
